Trim Castle

Una delle nuove aree amministrative dell'Irlanda creata dal re Enrico II d'Inghilterra. È anche il luogo in cui la città di York è ritratta nel film "Brave Heart".

Hill of Tara (Temair)
La collina di Tara è l'antica sede dei re celtici d'Irlanda, si dice che 142 re abbiano regnato lì in epoca preistorica e storica. Nell'antica religione irlandese e nella mitologia, Temair era il luogo sacro dove dimorare per gli dei ed era l'ingresso nell'altro mondo. Era un sito molto importante per il popolo celtico d'Irlanda, in quanto era il luogo in cui il Sommo Re si sedeva e regnava su tutti gli altri re provinciali. In questo sito ci sono molti monumenti antichi tra cui The Stone Of Destiny (Lia Fáil)

I did two full day tours with Hilltop. The first was a small group tour with Richard to Powerscourt, Wicklow and Glendalough. I loved the itinerary. Richard prepares you for your visit to Powerscourt and Glendalough and then you visit them at your own pace. There was sufficient time to see all the gardens at Powerscourt and have a bite to eat and there was enough time to see the highlights of Glendalough. The scenery is beautiful and Richard keeps you informed and entertained along the way. The second tour was a private tour with John Byrne. Being private, the tour was designed around my interests. Highlights were Bru na Boinne (visitor centre), Newgrange, Knowth, Monasterboice, Slane Castle, Trim Castle and a sheep farm. I had a fascinating time with John and learned a lot. Wonderful tour.

Recommend this tour to anyone wanting to know a bit about Irish history. Our guide was very nice and funny which made this trip even more fun.

We really enjoyed our adventure with HilltopTreks. The driver and tour guide, John, was fabulous. He was able to get us in to see New Grange early and we didn't hit any snags there. I guess it can be a problem sometimes. Along the way towards lunch time we stopped at a little spot that served us delicious soup and sandwiches. This was amazing, as it was cold outside and actually started snowing while we ate.
Not to mention the wonderful places we got to see and enjoy with my family.
Love this company and our driver John. Will be happy to recommend to anyone.
Full day castles and Celtic history tour

Our tour started a half hour late. No one showed up until 9:30 AM at the preset time and place. Frustrating. Matt came along and saved the day. Felt somewhat rushed but enjoyed the day.,
